by Andreas Reissnauer (10/01) A constant size in the European underground, Summoning release their fourth album to sweeten our daily evenings. Musically, nothing basic has changed. The two Austrians Protector and Silenius again created a magical atmosphere, reporting of gnomes, elves and magicians. Summoning always specialised on Tolkien's sagas and their transformation into word and music and have always taken care of a fairy-tale aura - by many keyboards, gloomy vocals and slow-tempo arrangements, enhanced by the right portion of heaviness and dynamics, creating a lot of pathos. Not really everybody's cup of tea one should think - but if like to be carried off by music into dreamy landscapes and fairy tale phantasies, you should be listening to this album!
