10.Hail To The Hammer
by Markus Eck (10.04.2008) This is typically Týr: the whole album is very grounded and instrumentally edgy, at the same time rhythmically powerful and majestically pumping. This is exactly the way, the Faroese Viking Metal-heroes return with their fourth album, simply entitled "Land", featuring a collection of Icelandic and Norwegian traditionals. Old folk tunes that were edgily and powerfully arranged for this very positively sounding album. And with them, the historically interested quartet present themselves not too far away from the loveliest Humppa-songs that we have come to know. Vocally, they have done quite some work, here, making "Land" the most mature album to date – and that also refers to the many dual vocal lines. If you know the last records of Týr well the first thing that will be striking for you is the great production of the new album. The legendary Jacob Hansen has really done a good job here.
