14.Korven kuningas
by Lisa Hofer (20.01.2008) With their lyrics full of fantasy and their happy melodies, the hairy guys from the lonely forests in Finland speak a mysterious voice somewhere between endless party, weird behaviour and edgy Folk. Like their predecessors, the youngest son is made of old, Finnish wood and takes up the Folk Metal heir with a lot of fresh air among the leaves. "Korven kuningas" means as much as "King of the woods" and with its 14 songs that can never deny their roots blows out of the speakers with power. Songs like "Keep on galloping", "Kantaiso" and "Gods on fire" are among the best songs of the formation ever and guarantee a good time. You may call Korpiklaani either weird or Folk-gods, may love or hate their rhythms and instruments but you have to admit: with "Korven kuningas" they have outlived themselves and their genre colleagues by far!
