11.For Their Sins
by Matthias Mader (13.04.2006) “Kindom's rise“ begins disastrous with a slowly increasing drum staccato from “South of heaven“, the finger's on the trigger and with “War of cultures“ the sound blast suddenly breaks over the puzzled listener - an explosion that I haven't experienced with this brutality since “Reign in blood“! To be honest, I'm fed up with the question - and the band also probably - is it hardcore, is it metal, is it metal core? I don‘t care. “Kingdom“ is exactly the album that Slayer should have made after “South of heaven“, every single song has more killer riffs than their complete new exodus. The vocals are a bit distorted; the hectic phrases fit the ultra-brutal sound perfectly - fortunately, the vocals never remind me of death metal grunts. In songs, like “On this graveyard“, there are extended instrumental breaks that beautifully highlight the great coordination between drumming and riffing. Forget Born From Pain, forget Hatebreed, forget Caliban - the true Slayer are named Cataract!
