"Irgendwas ist immer" CD by Engst
Article description
Engst release their third studio album 'Irgendwas ist immer'. The 13 new songs are often very melancholic in tone, but musically they still push forward. There are powerful drums, euphoric brass instruments, a guitar sound like a warm headlock β and of course, Matthias Engst's voice. Influenced by punk and hardcore, roughened by life β yet often surprisingly, well, mainstream compatible. Not easy to describe this effect, but let's just say: Matthias Engst could have become the new Tim Bendzko, Mark Forster or Ben Zucker with this voice. These comparisons are not meant as criticisms here, but simply mean that he could β if he wanted to make smooth radio music β have the voice for the masses. Sometimes ENGST even play with that idea.
