by Stefan Müller (07/02) Summary up front: Nile confirm their special position in the Death Metal sector with "In their darkened shrine". The technical skills of the musicians is extremely high. "Black seeds of vengeance" surely did not deserve to be called easily digestable. On "In their darkened shrine" Karl Sander and his fellow companions push the standards even a little higher. Partly responsible for this is Nile's new drumer Tony Laureno whose druming is still (just like during his time with Angel Corpse) charaterized by a tremendous amount of breaks at an incomparably high speed. Though very technical the music never looses it's power in a self-portrayal of the individual technical abilities. Many oriental melody lines in combination with Egyptian history and mythical contents which fit the musical basis like a glove make the songs easier to comprehend. (Stefan MΓΌller)
