9.The Road To Devastation
by Jürgen Tschamler (23.01.2006) With brute force, the nine new tracks cut everything in tow that comes in their way. The band continuously progressed their sound over the last two records and now delivered their masterpiece so far. βIn the arms of devastationβ is like a bullet in the head. The mixture of technical finesse, brute double-bass elements and high speed passages is absolutely compact and well-thought. The blastbeat elements were practically extinguished and replaced by monstrous heaviness integrated in the sound. The riffs are on highest killer level, just listen to βIn words of desperationβ. This wall of riffs is unbelievably. βLet them burnβ jumps at you like a chain-saw and leaves nothing but devastation. The riffs take your breath away. The Canadians put the benchmarks very high! Uncompromising, technically outstanding and above all very original, Kataklysm delivered an album with no weaknesses.
