"Humanity - Hour 1" CD by Scorpions

by Lothar Landt (04.04.2007) By the time of this review, only four finished songs could be heard so that a final judgement about the album is impossible. But the first impression is definitely good. The title song, e.g. is a great mixture of Rock and ballad elements. Equally convincing is the mid-tempo rocker, "We were born to fly", which also contains calmer passages and unfolds its complete class by the great leading riff and the catchy solo. "The future never dies" is a pompous ballad which is clearly different than the former ballads of the Scorpions. Instead of copying "I believe in love", "Send me an angel" or "Holiday", the Scorpions remind me of Queen here - another great surprise proving that songwriter and producer Desmond Child could harmonise with the Scorpions. The style of "Love will keep us alive" reminds me a bit of "I'm leaving you" and is a catchy melody-song. At the end of the day, the four songs are all rather calm - but there are said to be rockier tunes, too.
