by Nicolai Adam (null) Rocking parts, rich and sweet 70's atmosphere and driving rhythms are the characteristics of "How to measure a planet". "The Rescue" is a perfect example of how The Gathering tune their songs to the top: fragile acoustic guitar parts, tender violins and heavy Kyuss-typestonerock guitar. Other pieces such as the fantastic, overflowing "Great ocean road", "Liberty bell" and the rocking "Probably built in the 50's" or the spooky "Locked away" show the band from a heavier point of view whereas the beautiful ballad "Frail (You might as well be me)" tightens the grip around your heart. Titles such as the psychedelic "Illuminating" or "Marooned" focus on Anneke's terrific voice. Therefore, "How to measure a planet" is not the only question I'm asking myself but rather "How to measure the greatness of this album".
