by Andreas Reissnauer (29.01.2009) Huh? Kreator cooperate with a producer mostly known and famous (and getting several Echo award nominations for that) for his work with bands like Beatsteaks, Tocotronic, and Turbostaat? What the heck? Donβt worry, the flag ship of Teutonic Thrash Metal still has all its assets: brutal sounds and Milleβs signature, bellowing voice. The soundscape per se, created by Moses Schneider, is a bit rougher and muffled and very organic. Apart from that, "Hordes of chaos" is vintage Kreator, convincing with catchy, but technically very clean Thrash Metal songs. The motto of the first three tracks is full throttle - hefty rhythm flak plus intricate riffing and soli melt into belting choruses, so you canβt but sing along... The rest of the album? Thrash reigns supreme - period. Well, they didnβt forget about compositorial versatility and melody either (just check out "To the afterborn").
