'SUBWAY TO SALLY will release their 14th studio album, Himmelfahrt, on March 24, 2023. Since the beginning of their career, the band has been exploring the depths of the human soul and has achieved great success with it. Himmelfahrt now marks a turning point: hope is the leitmotif of the new album. Confidence is celebrated, but not without a tinge of bitterness and resentment in the face of current world events.

SUBWAY TO SALLY prove on Himmelfahrt that, even after over 30 years of band history, they are still in touch with the times and innovative. True to the motto 'never go back, always forward' from 'Leinen Los,' the band once again delivers a musical work of the highest quality. Grand arrangements, profound lyrics, sometimes captivating, sometimes restrained melodies, and a constant drive forward characterize SUBWAY TO SALLY's songs on Himmelfahrt. Sometimes loud, sometimes soft, but always infused with the familiar trademarks, the band heralds a fresh start.

The band says, 'The songwriting for Himmelfahrt began long before Corona, shortly after the release of the last album Hey! (2019), which in retrospect seems prophetic and distressing in the face of the pandemic and war.' Looking at the material that was created afterwards, the band had to grapple with the question at a certain point whether now is the right time to celebrate hope. 'Hope is the fuel for the future' (SUBWAY TO SALLY), and so the original material for the new album was deemed untimely and discarded, paving the way for what can be heard on Himmelfahrt today.

SUBWAY TO SALLY: 'Many songs on the new album now deal with departure and journey, reaching out to others to lead them from the darkest depths into the light. However, the current events in the world put this hope to a severe test. Bitterness and resentment tarnish the hope. Thus, God also has to speak on the album, to voice his disappointment with his creation.'
