by Matthias Mader (15.09.2008) What a coincidence! "Hell hath no fury" was the title of an album done in the Eighties by New Wave Of British Heavy Metal outfit Rock Goddess, an all-girl-band. Civet, too, are four women, but instead of hailing from London, they call L.A. their hometown. Apart from that, there are some appaling parallels between both troupes (let’s leave the age difference - 25 years - aside): Rock Goddess did rock, and Civet do rock as hell, some people consider them the only legitimate successors of Lita Ford and Joan Jett’s Runaways. Well, I can see their point, and so does Tim Armstrong (Rancid) who wrote "All I want" especially for the tattooed female bunch. The girls compose their own material, too, though: "Son of a bitch", "Bad luck" or "Gin ’n’ tonic" should make even Mister Ian Fraser Kilmister happy and proud - early MotΓΆrhead definitely have inspired these ladies. Maybe Civet are The dirty Donnas...
