by Markus Eck (18.01.2007) With their last album this killer troop showed that the last years have clearly left their marks on them. For the first time in the high quality history of the Swedish Melodic Death Metal-masters, "Pariah" offered some commercial elements, like e.g. some brutal Power Metal passages. Nobody took that for granted. The new album again offers best programme: Naglfar stick to the creative changes of the predecessor, yet they have some clear concessions to their own past in store, too. Which is fine because by doing so, the band got even closer to themselves. The unbelievably high level of this brute album takes your breath away. Naglfar were, they are, and they will always be Naglfar: infernal guitar explosions in the best Swedish Black Metal manner cause some feverish goose flesh showers. The unwavering first mates of the mythology ferry further stays on course.
