'With their debut album Fallen Angel's Dominion in 2010, THULCANDRA stormed the extreme metal scene like a raging fire. Led by founding member and visionary Steffen Kummerer (also known for Obscura), this German blackened death metal band has firmly held it ever since. The subsequent studio albums Under a Frozen Sun (2011), Ascension Lost (2015), and A Dying Wish, which entered the charts in 2021 and is dedicated to the late bassist Chris Kratzer, have solidified THULCANDRA's dominance, skillfully transferring the magic and mystery of mid-90s melodic black death metal into the sound of the modern era.
On their fifth long player titled Hail the Abyss, THULCANDRA once again prove why they play at the top level of death metal! Burning hot songs like 'As I Walk Through The Gateway' or the brutal 'Blood Of Slaves' demonstrate the band's affinity for dark, aggressive metal, while the album's title track or the epic, mid-tempo rage-filled 'On The Wings Of Cosmic Fire' tear everything apart with infernal intensity. As usual, THULCANDRA's focus is on creating a certain atmosphere, and the band's latest work generates a truly unique, distinct 'feeling' that leans towards old-school without the tired clichΓ©s.

The collaboration with renowned producer Dan SwanΓΆ (Dissection, Opeth, Katatonia), who was responsible for the crushing album mix, was as obligatory as the renewed cooperation with cover master Lochner.
