Blues deluxe oreganata (I might drown)

by Jürgen Tschamler (null) After their fabulous debut, Virgin Steel presented "Guardians of the flame", still one of the best Virgin Steele albums. Sound- and music wise, they left all their competitors behind. Alone the brilliant opener, "Don't say goodbye (tonight)" is big, epic Metal with an unbelievable re-reconnaissance value. David DeFeis is here on the height of his vocal capacities. With hymns, like "Burn the sun", "Hell or high water", "A cry in the night" shivers run down the spine. This re-release features bonus material of the ultra rare 4-Track EP, "Wait for the night" (I am the one, Go down fighting, Wait for the night). Highlight, however, is the radio interview from the early days, accompanied by a piano song written by David at the age of 17! Very informative interview, by the way. Concluding the album is a live track called "Blues deluxe oreganata (i might drown)" showing the band from a very atypical side. An essential and long-awaited reissue of this album! A must!!
