by Fabian Groth (04/01) Nostalgia. When millions of people come to the gigs of rock pensioners Richards, Jagger and friends they are chasing coolness the Stones stood for before they became the luxury jukebox for the well-to-do. Jet come from Australia, they're young, good-looking and hunt the realms of the early Stones, Kinks, AC/DC and Beatles. No space for grunge world-weariness or melancholy, the debut of the band around the two brothers Nic and Chris Cester offers impudently snotty retro rock. Producer Dave Sardy seems to hit the Zeitgeist right between the eyes: "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" - the first single - was chosen for the current advertising campaign of a mobile phone company. "Drink all night and talking shit all day" - Mr. Jagger, you can retire now, here are your worthy heirs. (Fabian Groth - 04/01)
