Article description

Jewel case version.
"Game Of Sins" shows a band at its climax of creativity. Although the cover and the intro "Lenta Fortuna" (Latin: hard luck) give the impression that this is a concept album about games, "Games Of Sins" is pure ARP: The metal opener "Fire" is highlighted with sounds of sirens. "Sons in The Night" does not only pay tribute to the TV show 'Sons Of Anarchy', but also to the NWOBHM. In the title song, which is the longest one on the record at nine minutes, Pell indulges in his preference for epic topics and Arabic scales. "Falling Star" points towards the beginning of the eighties. There is no ARP album without ballads, because there are always songs like "Lost In Love" that just happen to the man from Bochum. One of the album's highlights is "The King Of Fools" in the middle: five minutes of pure emotion, the perfect symbiosis between harshness and melody. Gioeli gives a masterly performance at the microphone, but one also pays attention to the guitars in the verses. "Till The World Says Goodbye" shows Pell in his element: epic, balladic, a dark end time beater, "Breaking The Rules" is another melodic hit, before the ballad "Forever Free" ends the album on a relaxing note. The great finale, however, is on the digipak: ARP is the first musician who manages a hard rock version of the Dylan/Hendrix classic "All Along The Watchtower", which was a heartfelt wish.
