There aren’t many heavy metal bands, whose carriers have been (and are) as successful as Judas Priest’s. Their presence and influence is as strong as ever. Their most recent album ‘Redeemer of Souls’, which was released in July 2014, bestowed the band with their highest place in the charts in their almost 40 year-long carrier (which included third place in the German and sixth place in the US charts). The lads from Britain received a Grammy in the ‘Best Metal Performance’ category in 2010, in 2006 they were awarded the ‘VH1 Rock Honours’ and they were nominated for the ‘Rock And Rock Hall Of Fame’ in 2017. The band’s 18th studio album ‘Firepower’ was finally released on 9 March. ‘Firepower’ was produced by Andy Sneap (Accept, Saxon, Opeth, Amon Amarth, Megadeth, Kreator etc.) and Tom Allom (Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Def Leppard, Genesis etc.). “Tom Allom has this classic metal thing down,” explains lead vocalist Rob Halford. “And Andy is more of a modern metal producer, but his thought process is a little different from Tom’s. This balance between classic old-school metal and Andy’s world forms an incredible fusion”. “We’ve been working with Tom Allom since 1979, so he knows tonnes about us and our music in general,” Ian Hill adds. According to Scott Travis, Judas Priest went back to the recording methods which they had used to create stunning sounds on earlier classic tracks. “We went back to an organic recording style, where we were all together in one room playing together.”
