by Markus Wosgien (29.04.2009) Mystic Prophecy went several steps beyond on their last two outputs "Satanic curses" and "Savage souls": they were tougher and faster than ever before, leaving Speed Metal land and visiting Thrash country. On their new opus "Fireangel", though, they're slower, more melodic - the band focuses on groove and straight'n'catchy Heavy Metal songs. The line-up has changed considerably which makes for some fresh breeze: apart from singer R. D. Liapakis and axe man Markus Pohl, there are three new members aboard (2nd guitar, bass, and drums). Once again, the eleven tracks are satanic and dark, musically leaning towards their early stuff Γ la "Regressus" and "Never ending". On offer: classic Metal anthems like the fast "We kill - you die", extremely catchy "Across the gates of hell", slightly progressive "Revolution evil" or the enthralling title track "Fireangel". Mystic Prophecy are classy Heavy Metal stalwarts - you always can rely on them delivering a hell of an album captivating you from a to z.
