by Andreas Reissnauer (July 2004) "Back from the grave" was a great comeback album that got best reviews everywhere but it wasn't extraordinary. Two years later, Grave are back withz "Fiendish regression" - and what can I say? The Swedes have progressed! First of all, the fat production of the TΓ€gtgren-brothers has to be mentioned, which recorded in their own Abyss Studios provided the master with a great, powerful sound. But also the songs seem more compact, more thought-over and richer in ideas. Already the dragging opener, "Last journey" roars powerfully through the woods and remidns me of the best moments of Asphyx. Afterwards, the Swedes increase the speed and animate with their simple but effective tracks between mid- and uptempo to bang your head. Especially "Reborn" provided with some great killer riffs, as well as the fast "Bloodfeast" cut your skull in two. Of course, there are one, two unspectacular tracks on the album, but tze overall quality of the album easily makes up for that. Supporters of Swedish death should check this one out!
