Doro has been a staple of the music world for 25 years now β not long ago, this was celebrated with a big anniversary concert. Along with that goes the release of her new album "Fear no evil" which sounds surprisingly crisp and fresh. Granted, we all know Doroβs signature style, but "Fear no evil" is a versatile and clever bridge between traditional and modern interpretations. "Long lost for love", "Caught in a battle" (very Speed Metal), or the anthem-like "On the run", and the hefty opener "The night of the warlock" mark the more traditional facets of this output. And nobody will be too surprised to hear some of those ballads typical of Doro β she has always had a knack for very emotional songs, the obligatory "German lyrics" track being "Herzblut" this time.
The material sounds really tight, and especially the faster and aggressive songs have such an impressive clout that you canβt but admire the power and heart of this lady who still is at it with all she has, even after 25 years. In short: a completely convincing album - you should really get the limited version with the bonus tracks, of course!
