After VARG focused entirely on their pagan roots with their last and most successful album Zeichen (2020, #16 on the German album charts), the wolves continue on this path with their latest work and impressively manifest their reincarnation. Honest, authentic, and raw – the new album Ewige Wacht will be released on October 13, 2023. In addition to eleven brand new songs, the 2-CD Digipack includes an exciting bonus CD featuring various renowned guests performing all the songs – including Rotting Christ, Kanonenfieber, Alestorm, Nachtblut, Korpiklaani, Obscurity, Tyr, Forndom, Harpyie, and Robse.

VARG undoubtedly stand at the forefront of the German pagan scene, gathering fans worldwide for the past 18 years through Tours across Europe and North America, and constantly pushing their following to new heights with numerous gigs at major European festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Party.San, and Metalfest. Even after such a long time, Freki (vocals), Fylgja (vocals), Morkai (guitar), along with new members Ulvar (guitar, bass) and Rohgarr (drums), still manage to provide sonic surprises. The lineup change with two highly talented and innovative musicians brings a breath of fresh air and guides VARG into a new chapter of the band's history. Grown artistic maturity meets a unique sense of unity between the band and fans, which is thematically reflected in the new album. Ewige Wacht revolves around myths and legends of past times and s them into the familiar and diverse pagan sound in the present.

The eighth studio album transports the Nordic mythology, as well as values such as honesty and loyalty. VARG once again demonstrate themselves as an invincible unit – as evidenced by the opening track 'Immer Treu' (Always Loyal). Already here, it becomes apparent how vocalist Fylgja was more involved in the individual songs this time. Her valkyrie-like vocals expand the band's sonic spectrum and form a perfectly balanced contrast to Freki's razor-sharp screams and growls. 'Schildmaid' (Shieldmaiden), 'Fylgja,' and 'Eisenseite' (Ironside) symbolize this collaboration and the path that VARG has been taking since Zeichen. 'Weltenfeind' (Enemy of the World), 'Tyr,' and 'Hammer' resonate as powerful anthems, unyielding with merciless brutal shrieks and cutting riffs. The folk melodies in 'Morgenrot' (Morning Red) lead to the epic 'Siegreiches Heer' (Victorious Army), which sharpens the sense of unity that runs like a common thread through Ewige Wacht. The title track forms the final peak and combines heathen themes, haunting melodies, and the captivating power of the wolves.
