by Patrick Schmidt (07/99) The Swiss metal pioneers are back and bring us "Eternal", an album which is convincing throughout and consequently continues the path of "Passage". To make it perfectly clear: the guys around mastermind Xytras deepened the electronic elements and meanwhile can be characterized as a dark electro act with metal influences. Although "Year zero" and "Ailleurs" could have just as well been found on "Passage" Samael expand their horizon in the further course of the new album and dive into the deep seas of pumping drum beats, monstrous synthesizer entries, subtile techno influences and funereal vocals. Likewise some real hits once again developed like the fantastic "Together" or the dancable (!), bombasticly arranged "Supra karma". "Eternal" turned out as an excellent album which will grow with each listening session, reveal new deatails and rippen to a dense unit. Perfect! (Patrick Schmidt - 07/99)
