CARNAL TOMB, from Germany’s equally chaotic and pulsating capital Berlin, deliver their eagerly awaited third album “Embalmed in Decay”, which channels the spirit of old school death metal perfectly. Shorter tracks, fast-paced blast beats and characteristic doom-driven passages come together to create a contemporary version of classic death metal. “Embalmed in Decay” will cement the Germans’ status as one of the hottest young acts in this brutal genre. CARNAL TOMB have taken their inspiration from people like H.P. Lovecraft, but also from gore and zombie films like Amando de Ossorio’s 1972 classic “Tombs of the Blind Dead”, as well as special Italian burial sites called “Putridariums”, where the bodies of the deceased rotted to the bone in open chambers. The morbid cover artwork by artist Skaðvaldur was also influenced by these themes. CARNAL TOMB formed in Berlin in 2014. An insatiable hunger for old school death metal had infected all of the band members. Besides a remarkable abundance of demo recordings, EPs, split and single releases, especially the two albums “Rotten Remains” (2016) and “Abhorrent Veneration” (2019) earned the band an awesome reputation among death metallers around the globe. With the blood-thirsty death metal horror of “Embalmed in Decay”, CARNAL TOMB even summon the dead from their graves and unleash their monster songs on an unsuspecting world.
