by Markus Wosgien (08.07.2010) Swedish Black Metal outfit Setherial has never been among the top bands of the genre in spite of having an awesome debut: "Nord..." (released1996) could even be considered a milestone in the Black department. But due to many line-up changes and long breaks, Dark Funeral, Marduk & Co. got all the accolades... But maybe those days are over - Infaustus holds the job at the mike for seven years already, and his blasphemous vocals are a perfect fit for the furiously fast and pitch-black sound of the Scandinavians. The horde attacks kike thereβs no tomorrow, and the barrage is garnered with some extra dissonant harmonies topped off with progressive outbursts sometimes reminding you of Emperorβs "Prometheus". Exactly these off-kilter, typical Nordic riffs are epitomes of Setherialβs occult spirit, providing the nine tracks with evil energy. The blokes present us with a sophisticated, yet catchy opus - so far, one of the best Black Metal CDs this year.
