by Sonja Angerer (08/01) Older readers and listeners know that this trio formed in 1989 is no Rammstein-clone but rather their herald. That is especially important because "Ego" proves to be more innovative than Rammstein's "Mutter". Beginning with the sultry, almost manic title-track, continued with the powerful "Supernova" with its initial beginner's guitar-chords and culminating into a steel-avalanche resting in between on a complex but melodic ballad-part. "Bitter" is almost a SynthiePop-hit, till the guitars come in, "Rette mich" with its violin in the back is a thriller. At here at the latest one asks what else is there to come?! Well, it's the opulent "Kontrollverlust", a masterly rollercoaster-ride between dedication, self-hate and fear - since Velvet Underground's "Heroin", no inner self was described more colourful and pictorial. Alone for this track, this album deserves to become a classic.
