by Oliver Kube (29.09.2006) Like the currently very popular US charters The Killers and Panic! At The Disco, also Escape The Fate come from the desert and casino metropolis Las Vegas. In terms of heaviness, however, the quintet thankfully is a bit more extreme. Intensive Screamo-songs like the hyper-nervous "Chariots", the brutal "Guillotine" - interrupted by a giant guitar solo - or the high speed Melodic hymn "Situations", rather remind me of acts like Taking Back Sunday, Hawthorne Heights or Underoath. After a splendid start with the great EP "There's no sympathy for the dead" and the opening gigs for bigger colleagues like My Chemical Romance and the Alkaline Trio as well as their participation on the Warped-Tour 2006, the band now really kicks off with this really thrilling album debut. Alone the departure of their charismatic frontman, Ronnie Radke, who delivers an absolutely stunning performance here but who left directly after the recordings, could shortly keep this band from their rise to the top league.
