by Markus Eck (07.01.2008) Their fans had to wait a long time for their fifth studio album. Reason for the delay were label problems amongst others but the Austrian Melodic Death Metal-legends, Thirdmoon are well known to not be giving up. Also on their new album, the Linz-based troop around the Death Metal master, Wolfgang Rothbauer offer a variable collection of genre-material over 15 compositions. On "Dimorphic cynosure", the quintet enriches their fierce riff attacks with bull-like rhythms and extremely harsh, oral ejections, still the end result is a coherent mix of finest melodies and a number of surprisingly sophisticated finesses. Inspired by many influences, such variable song material permits excessive pleasures for all genre fans. Predominantly aggressive, still clever melodious and subtle atmospheric, this album is a masterpiece of inventive Death Metal of sometimes frightening, brutal instrumentation.
