by Markus Eck (24.07.2009) In the mid-90s, these Dutch deathsters were in he vanguard of their genre, but just a little bit later, that kind of music was sort of almost "out" again... Nevertheless, the fan faves stuck to their style, but the split was just a matter of time. You canβt kill true passion, though - and so, Asphyx reunited, did a greatly successful tour, and topped it all off with this brandnew studio album! And it is a time travel experience: as in the past, the blokes stun us with their very own kind of dark and brutal Death, reverberating incredibly magnificent and powerful in your ears. Vocalist Martin Van Drunen and his boys have even kept those doomy parts they had been known for, aptly suppported by Bob Bagchusβ explosive, eruptive drum work. Recorded with long-time Asphyx producer Frank Klein Douwel in the Sonic Assault Studio and mixed by Dan SwanΓΆ, this release leaves nothing to be desired regarding push, clout, and transparence! A real killer comeback!
