by Stefan Müller (07/02) When talking about the importance of Dark Tranquility's work critics and fans should be of the same opinion. Teamed up with bands like In Flames and At The Gates they defined a whole new genre, the so called GΓΆteborg sound. Especially the above mentioned were able to turn their creativity and status of a predeccesor to gold. Nevertheless singer Mikael Stanne only got a small piece of the cake although albums like "The gallery" are among the best albums the Swedish Death scene has to offer. For many fans "Projector" came as a surprise and lacked heavyness whereas "Haven" took a step back into that direction. Now the guitars dominate just like back in the days. Already the slightly trashy track "Final resistance" shows the sixpack went back to old virtues. The sense for melodies and electronic introductions as in "Single part two" already indicates that Dark Tranquility have managed to combine their Know How with the highlights of their career on "Damage done".
