    The final godsend

by Jürgen Tschamler (22.10.2008) "Cult of the dead" is the new release of a matured band that doesn’t make any compromises concerning style and sound. LOTD fans have learned to appreciate a production as featured here: voluminous and extremely powerful. The four Dutchmen make good use of their wrecking ball and leave their competitors lying in the dust. But in spite of all brutality, the boys still have a knack for grooviness: "Pray and suffer" is a hefty mid-tempo smasher with red-hot riffs. The title track starts off furiously, but turns into a groover with an incredibly catchy chorus: a killer. "Necrosophic blessing" and "Black templar" hit you directly between the eyes: high speed guitar flak with monster riffs, and at the same time very old school. The total opposite: "The final godsend", the slowest song on the album. "Enslaver of souls" is very groovy, yet reminds me very much of Slayer - one of the highlights! And check out "Lucifer saviour": a total old school grenade featuring a distinctive riff.
