by Jürgen Tschamler (03.11.2008) On their debut, British outfit Sylosis deliver 12 remarkably impressive songs. They have already caused some stir with their two Eps - and now Nuclear Blast have signed them. The quintet hailing from Reading cleverly and creatively combines modern Thrash elements with 90s Thrash influences. The tracks are intricate, sometimes aggressive, and sometimes classical - and sometimes, they develop their own brutal dynamic structure, the vocals being rather modern and irate. Sylosis are a great hybrid of Cynic, Forbidden, Into Eternity, Scar Symmetry, Soilwork and Atheist. Tracks like "Reflections through fire", and the speedy "Withered" demonstrate the class and versatility of this band. A big turn-off for the boys is boredom - as they clearly prove on "Conclusion of an age". Variety and well-balanced toughness go hand in hand here. What a great debut by this gifted young men!
