by Markus Wosgien (30.10.2009) After the tragic death of their vocalist Sabine, the future of Swiss outfit Elis was uncertain for a long time, but the band, being sure that that would have been Sabine's wish, too, decided to carry on. Sandra Scheret (ex- Diary Of Dreams, Siegfried) is her successor, and her powerful and clear voice os a perfect fit for their sound which has become rougher and rougher over the time. The eleven tracks on "Catharsis" are full of force and darkness, they live off their great, melancholic melodies (which do remind me of acts like Kamelot from time to time). The compositions are impressive and emotional. One of the many highlights: "Warriors tale" - featuring an exciting duet by End Of Green vocalist Michelle Darkness and the fragile Austrian songstress. And when she sings in German, like on "Des Lebens Traum" and "Das kleine Ungeheuer", shivers will run down your spine. Verdict: "Catharsis" is an exciting, innovative and moving album.
