by Sonja Angerer (31.03.2006) We all know: Wumpscut is the master, the king of ill-tempered lyrics, grotesque, distorted voices and absurd twisted sound elements - apocalypse electronic industrial at its best. That Rudi R. at the same time has always had a perfect sense for catchy melodies has often been hidden behind electronic ruins and sound coffins. That's over now: on “Cannibal anthem“ you get a surprising lot of relatively clean melodies. Yet, that doesn't make the songs softer or even poppier- this album rather radiates these pleasant jimjams known by horror fans: this feeling you get when the beautiful, blond heroine crosses the dark woods. Of course, also this album has some potential club classics in store: “Liebe” and “Jesus Antichristus“ are the favourites. But also the sweet, corrosive ballad, “Ohne Dich“, the pumping “Wir warten“ and the complex “Recht vor Gnade“ reveal the Wumpscut-typical earwig qualities.
