NECK CEMETERY rejects all trends: The five-piece band from North Rhine-Westphalia plays their Heavy Metal the way they love it - sometimes slow, sometimes fast, sometimes serious, and sometimes with a wink, but always with a healthy dose of heart and soul.
After their debut album 'Born in a Coffin,' released in 2020 through Reaper Entertainment Europe and distributed worldwide by Universal Music, received great acclaim from fans and the press, the band performed at several renowned festivals in the summer of 2022, including the Rock Hard Festival (where their performance was recorded by WDR Rockpalast and also live-streamed) and Wacken Open Air. Afterwards, they barricaded themselves in the rehearsal room to work on fresh new material.
This material forms the basis for their second full-length album 'Bring us the Head,' which was recorded in the spring of 2023 in collaboration with producer Martin Buchwalter, known in the hard and heavy scene for his work with Tankard, Destruction, Tom Angelripper, Paul Di'Anno, and Suidakra, at the 'Gernhart' studios in Troisdorf.
''Bring us the Head' is our love letter to the cinema of the 80s and 90s, which we grew up with,' vocalist Jens explains. 'During the coronavirus pandemic, we rediscovered many of these films. Many can relate - we were at home, had unusually free time, and thanks to streaming services, boredom was rarely an issue. Eventually, we joked about making an album about our old favorite movies... and we did it.' Fans of movies like 'Terminator,' 'Conan,' 'Army of Darkness,' or 'Escape from New York' will thus have a great time with the album, which features meticulously detailed cover artwork by Besil Wrathbone. The band also recorded a cover version of the Ramones classic 'Pet Sematary' for 'Bring us the Head.' Jens explains: 'Since we have been performing the song live for years, and it fits so perfectly with the concept of the album, the idea was obvious.'
