Article description

Appearing as a double CD in a mediabook (the bonus CD includes the instrumental versions).

German genre visionaries LORD OF THE LOST will end the year 2022 with a bang and release their eighth studio album Blood & Glitter almost overnight on December 30th. Following extensive Tours throughout the year, including as special guests of IRON MAIDEN, and the great success of their last album JUDAS (#2 Official German Album Charts), the band takes a 180-degree turn thematically and visually. After the mythological and theological themed previous albums, LORD OF THE LOST expresses their love for the sound of the 80s and the early 70s glam rock aesthetics on Blood & Glitter, without neglecting the associated metal elements. The album gets straight to the point and goes full throttle from start to finish – no ballads are included. Blood & Glitter embodies the energy of a LORD OF THE LOST live show and can be performed as a complete work on stage. The lyrics of the songs, which are held predominantly in an up-tempo and mid-tempo style, are direct, honest, current, political, critical, and urban – and often surprisingly angry or very personal. Musical and lyrical contrasts are as usual the common thread running through the album, which once again features many changes compared to the previous work. In addition to the Hamburg Chameleon Studios, Blood & Glitter was produced and recorded at the Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki. Blood & Glitter is 100% LORD OF THE LOST – 100% 'expectedly different' than before! Blood & Glitter was inspired by the famous music photographer Mick Rock's work of the same name, known as the man who photographed the musical 70s – a majority of all photos of the original Glam Rock era are from him. LORD OF THE LOST visually dive into the spirit of this era and combine it with the wave and pop sound of the 80s, building on their own familiar dark metal foundation. The result is a glamorous party with critical and unapologetic messages. Chris Harms on the album release: 'In a time when the marketing madness for every album seems to be getting longer, when already half of the album or even more is known six months in advance through advance singles, in order to generate the highest possible chart result through high pre-sales at the time of release, what it should actually be about is increasingly being lost: The pure magic of first hearing a new album from your favorite band. This 'like before' feeling is what we want to convey through this unprepared release! Screw the charts, playlist pitchings, and 1,000 meaningless reviews in advance. What matters is what an album means in the long run, not its 'value' on the day of release.' While the title track 'Blood & Glitter' immediately opens the album with its catchy sound, 'Leave Your Hate In The Comments' is a strong statement against the flourishing culture of hatred in social media. On 'The Future Of A Past Life,' Marcus Bischoff, the singer of Heaven Shall Burn, is the first guest on the album. Andy LaPlegua from Combichrist contributes to 'Reset The Preset,' while the band is supported by Ally Storch on the violin for 'Save Our Souls' from Subway To Sally. The album ends with 'One Last Song,' to which Chris Harms says: 'I wondered which song I would want to sing last before I die and realized that this song did not yet exist. So here it is. Probably the most important song I have ever written.' As a bonus track, there is a cover of Roxette's 'The Look' featuring none other than the German 90s pop star BlΓΌmchen as a duet partner. Blood & Glitter is 100% LORD OF THE LOST. The band once again goes their own way and releases an album without much anticipation that breaks all clichΓ©s, prejudices, genre norms, and conventions, while making strong statements!
