This is one step beyond „Death magnetic“ - or, to be exactly, four. The four songs created during the „Death magnetic“ sessions have been released on diverse download platforms already and weren't meant for a CD originally. But the fans had their say, and so the tracks made it on a CD after all. You'll get four unmastered (!!!) songs on a CD. But what to expect? Sub-standard stuff? No, sir! Some of the „Death magnetic“ material sounded more like old gems anyway (much more than on „St. Anger“, for example), and the "Beyond..." songs are even a tad more old-school which is certainly also due to the sound. Check out „Hate train“ and „Just a bullet away“ - they will whet your appetite for more. But you'll enjoy „Hell and back“ and „Rebel of Babylon“, too, although you'll detect some fresher influences there. In a nutshell: a great gift and a #1 choice for all you Metallica maniacs out there!
