Bannkreis, the fourth album of Subway To Sally from the year 1997, dissolved itself of the pure Middle Ages rail and proceeded with the help of three guitarists (at least in a handful of songs) in the fields of the Metal sounds. Paired with the sounds by bagpipes, shalm, hurdy-gurdy and Renaissancelute a miraculous blend of two apparently contradicting music worlds interferes to something totally new.

by Olaf Plotke (null) Subway to Sally invite us into their own strange little world. Like medievil minnesingers they tell stories in their songs which deal with fate of man, love and death. "Bannkreis" touched me so much that after "Schlaflied" and "Syrah" I started to cry of joy ithout feeling embarrased. "Syrah" is the ultimate closer for "Bannkreis" and the last chord still sounds for a long time just like after "A day in the life" on the Beatles century-masterpiece "Sgt Pepper.". Join the "Bannkreis"! Welcome to this magical theater. Not everybody may enter...
