by Jürgen Tschamler (25.03.2008) Tex-Mex-Rock by the inventors of this subgenre – so what could go wrong? On their fifth studio album, the guys around Tito Larriva stick to their roots a 110%. Innovation? Musical change? Terms that you should better forget when referring to Tito & Tarantula. The ten tracks on "Back into the darkness" will appeal to exactly the same people who have always liked the band. The rest will make a big circle around the band and their self-willed sound. With the final song, "If you love me", they may have a surprisingly fast song in store, but this remains an exception. Highlight is also "Monsters" with its very cool groove and a rather commercially orientated chorus. "Bust and ashes" becomes an earwig which results from the fact that beside the great rhythm, you have a great, refreshing guitar in the background. For the rest, you get cool Rock songs that on a bad weather day can leave its marks on you.
