by Markus Eck (29.09.2006) On "Autumntales", the Gummersbach-based troop presents some medieval sounds that draw their influences from Celtic, Folk, Rock and Metal in equal share. The resulting quality mixture absolutely thrills me. Quite playful string instruments are a moderate means of style for the romantic aesthetes - beside beautiful ivory tinkles. Highly interesting reminiscences of Blackmore's Night cannot be denied, which also refers to the beautiful voice of Mrs. Thierjung, by the way. Variation is written in big letters in Lyriel, no song is like the other, not even close to that. Nevertheless, the album turns out to be a homogenous whole guaranteeing listening pleasure from start to the end. Still, their greatest moments are if the band either performs graceful ballads or in best Heavy Metal vein. Either swinging, happy or melancholic, all the emotions burst for truth.
