Flogging Molly is less of a band and more of a transatlantic, Celtic punk institution. Over the course of 25 years and after thousands of concerts around the world, Flogging Molly has transcended genre boundaries. They have become one of the few bands that can literally share the stage with The Chieftains one day and MotΓΆrhead the next. For Flogging Molly's seventh album, 'Anthem,' the band decided to return to their roots. The band, led by the couple Dave King (vocals, guitar, bodhran) and Bridget Regan (violin, tin whistle, backing vocals), recorded 14 songs in 14 days at Steve Albini's (Nirvana, Pixies) Electrical Audio Studio in Chicago. Ultimately, there is no other band like Flogging Molly that can effortlessly switch between punk and folk. The fact that multiple generations of fans now attend the band's concerts is proof of their enduring relevance. This brings us back to 'Anthem.' 'With this record, we've returned to the basics in a way that we couldn't have done if we hadn't been playing together for 20 years,' King summarizes. 'I believe that we had a lot of fun returning to Chicago and recording this record with Steve, and I believe that you can hear that on the record as well. For Flogging Molly, the goal has always been to come together and play new songs - and now we're just excited to play these songs live and present a whole new era of Flogging Molly to our fans.' The band and the world have gone through a lot in recent years. 'Anthem' is about the collective spirit that we all possess and that allows us to look into the future.
