by Jürgen Tschamler (11/02) 1999 saw the last studio album "Dark side of the spoon" of the ingenious duo, Jourgensen/Parker, better known under the name of Ministry. The album led to the split of their label Warner Records, the sales figures went straight into the cellar - no wonder, because there is no way for an Industrial album to sound more bloody and raw. With their new album, the two weird sympathetic freaks try a cautious, conciliatory step back to their fans: "Animositisomina" is catchier, easier accessible and heavier. The album doesn't have to hide for comparisons with the band's commercially most successful "Psalm 69"-album. Brilliant riffs, gigantic samples, the unmistakable roaring voice, an extreme speed and sparse but haunting melodies - Ministry at their very best. The last two tracks of the album, "Stolen" and "Leper" are clearly oriented in the "Filth Pig/Dark side of the spoon" phase which may be nerve-racking, but at the same time with "Unsung" they have the ultimate "Jesus built my hotrod" successor in store. God-like. "Piss" contains a haunting chorus that will haunt you for days - great. "Lockbox" is another one of these killers and "Broken" will riff you into the nirvana! Ministry are back!! Embrace with me the angry old men of Industrial!!
