by Lisa Hofer (14.04.2008) After five long years of waiting, only loosened up by a DVD, Johan Edlund is back in the spotlight with his formation. The signing with Nuclear Blast is not the only change that you can observe in Tiamat: the new album has little in common with the last album, "Prey". On "Amanethes", Tiamat combine their most successful trademarks with new, innovative influences and like from the nothing create a dark, warm universe full of intense emotions. Songs, like the melodic "Until the hellhounds sleep again", "Lucienne" and "Meliae" convince by their atmospheric tightness. With "Katarraktis Apo Aima" and "Amanitis", the Swedish Greek by choice, Johan Edlund, heart and brain of the band, underpins the close relation to his new home country. "Amanethes" builds the bridge between past and future, variation and tradition through the unique universe of Tiamat.
