by Benny Ramm (26.09.2007) Well this is really a thrilling band-conglomerate that the American metropolitan, Detroit (Rock City) has newly brought to light. The musicians around the main singer, Jason Shrum have an extreme energy, I have rarely heard such punishing breakdowns. At the same time, Today I Wait are no uniform pulp but rather skilfully play with fragile melodies and don't hesitate to incorporate some slightly intricate, progressive elements, too. But the main emphasis – and I mean the main emphasis, is put on the heavy weight groove that the quintet pumps out through the speakers. If you can resist tipping your foot at least a little bit you have no rhythm inside of you. Until song seven (the great "Tune them out"), the energy is high all the way through. Calmer only is the following "Vanishing frontier", en epic Emo-Rock song. The rest of the album turns it up again, like in the staccato killer, "To the spoiled victor" and the blastbeat-like final, "Child's crusade"!
