Broadrick and Ben Green, supplemented by Machines, is considered a central authority in the world of 'heavy' music and has influenced entire cultures of heavy music since the band's founding in 1988. The band is regarded as a cultural icon, and its influence can be felt across generations of heavy music, both in the mainstream and underground. They are regarded as one of the first bands to blend old British industrial music with downtuned, primitive minimal metal, inadvertently pioneering the 'industrial metal' sound, but the band has so much more to offer than what this term expresses.
