by Andreas Reissnauer (03/10) Their new album could mean a big step forward for Stampin' Ground. Musically, Γ¬ they have settled somewhere between thrash metal in The Haunted-manner and moshcore as we've come to know from the early Biohazard. That doesn't Γ¬ make them trendy - like, e.g. KSW Engage or Hatebreed - but they found a niche that should have its fan-base. At least the Γ¬ first half of the album - because over the course of the album Stampin' Ground Γ¬ didn't manage to loosen up their sound a bit. A few tempo changes here and there Γ¬ may have been enough - but apart from the final demolition pear "Ashes to Γ¬ scatter" "A new darkness upon us" is reduced to mid-pace songs. That sounds quite good but no more than that. The fat production and the very accentuated drum performance has to be highlighted at this point. (Andreas Reissnauer - 03/10)
