On "Ecailles de lune", Alcest remember Black Metal that formerly shaped their style: heartbraking, enraptured cries and passionatly sad collages and still characterizing vocals. Thereby, the band around mastermind Neige has kept up their trademarks: quiet passages, massive walls of guitar sounds, catchy melodies and hooklines that go right to your heart.

You'll find his unmistakeable creative fingerprints on this artistically demanding, fine new CD, and yet the French instrumental multi-talent Neige hasn't lost his talent for indulging in the wistful, as demonstrated by the gifted visionary's unique emotional mixture on "Écailles de lune". Good-natured, graceful, in a state of harmonious rapture, this new song collection lives from within, full of orchestrated sounds intertwined with various avant-garde Melodic Black Metal arrangements. Together with the often incredibly beautiful clear vocalisations that are a perfect fit for the music, the songs are versatile and full of emotional melodies framed by the mighty guitar walls of "Écailles de lune". Brilliant.
