The Red Hot Chili Peppers have turned the corner once again. After the initial crisis in the band's 5th year, they have come together again to revive funk rock.
The success of "Mother's Milk" and "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" was probably the cornerstone of the band's success, after they had already had to feel the dark side of fame first hand with the death of Hillel Slovak and the first attempts at withdrawal. Strangely enough, however, the story of the Red Hot Chili Peppers has never been an easy one.
When they had success on their side, labels or internal band problems caused the band a lot of trouble. "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" shot through the roof and as a result, guitarist extraordinaire John Frusciante left the band.
A replacement was found in Dave Navarro, who had previously had a hand in Jane's Addiction. "One Hot Minute" divided the fan base, as this album is probably the most unwieldy overall and lacks the catchiness of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, for which this band is just so appreciated.
Frusciante showed himself to be reformed and eventually returned to the band, only to write greatest hits with them. "Californication" was the liberation blow and at the same time the blowing up of all the knots that always hindered the Red Hot Chili Peppers in their work. Out of 15 songs, 6 could be released as singles and another 5 songs were used for promotional purposes. Can a success be greater?
Probably not. But the Peppers did not rest on their wave of success. With the follow-up albums "By The Way" and "Stadium Arcadium", the Californians were finally able to play their way into the history of funk rock. Shortly afterwards, however, they parted company with John Frusciante, who preferred to pursue a solo career.
A replacement was found in the form of the exceptional talent Josh Klinghoffer. And this young gentleman was able to prove his skills for the first time with the album "I'm With You". The album is dripping with creativity, catchiness and individuality - without question one of RHCP's best releases.
The Getaway - RHCP are back
5 years after "I'm With You", the Peppers finally came back with their 11th album "The Getaway". And already the single "Dark Necessities" promised great things. The album then once again exceeded all expectations. The funk influences are even more present than on "I'm With You" and every song grooves incredibly well.
But that's no wonder when you have such a bass player like Flea in the band. Of course, you can find the Red Hot Chili Peppers' albums in our EMP Red Hot Chili Peppers Online Shop.
