11.To The Death
by Matthias Mader (15.05.2009) Once, Earth Crisis were considered a top-notch Hardcore band - they were huge. That was a long time ago - the scene has changed a lot since then: in the meantime, other outfits have become super stars. Well, the boys from Syracuse won't mind at all, they had always despised all that star stuff anyway. So, their comeback album "To the death" is an output surprisingly lacking the stress or tension of many other reunion. Tracks as the opener "Against the current" (sic!), political "When slaves revolt", or "Control through fear" are real stunners - has the band ever been on hiatus at all? Tue Madsen's mix turns "To the death" into a giant wake-up call. Earth Crisis haven't lost a tad of their clout and militancy. For me, being a stalwart fan, that's enough of legitimation.
