    The divine conspiracy

by Tero Lassila (19.07.2007) You can say what you want about women on microphones. Grumblers should be careful now, because with their new album Epica have a concentrated fist of heavy arguments for their musical style and consequently save the honour of some a calmer colleague. "The divine conspiracy" sounds like a statement, a shot right through, full of enchanting easiness, but still with depth and soul. What the Dutch have managed with these 13 charismatic tracks is unique and definitely marks a changing point in the history of the band. Front lady Simone Simons convinces with her voice and fascinates with honest emotions, while at the same time the red-haired beauty rocks like never before. Songs like "Never enough" and "Chasing the dragon" lay the cards on the table and make no secret about the potential of the band. Atmospheric arrangements and contrasting male vocal passages provide a variable listening experience. "The divine conspiracy" will lift Epica into new spheres and in fact, that's what this band has long deserved.
